Know Your Law sessions
Call for schedule
Know Your Law Sessions presented by volunteer attorneys are provided by CCLP as a service to organizations of low-income workers and others upon specific request. These free-of-charge sessions include such topics as wage theft and employment, consumer debt, police stops and more. If you belong to an organization interested in joining with CCLP to hold a Know Your Law Session for your organization’s membership or constituency, please contact CCLP. Volunteers are needed to organize and publicize these sessions.

Community Outreach
Tuesdays 10 am to 3 pm, Fridays 4 to 8:30 pm and Sundays 1 to 6 pm
You can learn public speaking and community outreach to universities, organizations, at rallies and other events. These tactics play an instrumental role in organizing the forces and resources for legal battles affecting thousands of low-income workers, homeowners, tenants, small business owners and the growing portion of our population who lack access to the courts.
-
Publication Sessions
Tuesdays 10 am to 2 pm, Thursdays 11 am to 3 pm and Sundays 10 am to 2 pm
CCLP needs graphic designers, writers and photographers to help write and design publications and flyers to publicize CCLP’s efforts. Join us, whether your have publishing skills and can teach, or want to learn and participate.
-
Community Canvasses
Saturdays 10 am - 3 pm
CCLP volunteers receive training in door-to-door canvassing in neighborhoods of low-income workers to reach families impacted by the toxic contamination from the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, which is one of the worst environmental problems in the country. The canvasses inform and involve people to build a groundswell to force a full and thorough cleanup, and publicize CCLP’s law sessions, and recruit volunteers.
-
Mailouts and Phoning
Daily
CCLP relies on printed letters and publications to reach new volunteers, supporters and keep all informed of CCLP’s current programs and news. Volunteers are needed to assist with mailing these items. Volunteers are also needed for telephone sessions to contact lawyers and other volunteers to build strength through organization.
